SRV-01 · SERVICES / QUANTITY SURVEYING
Trigon provides independent quantity surveying to developers, contractors and private clients from our base in Newbury. Two qualified quantity surveyors run every appointment personally, from the first viability through tender, construction and final account.
Benchmarked early appraisals so land and design decisions are made on real numbers, not rates of thumb.
Measured cost plans from first principles at each design stage, tracked against the budget as the scheme develops.
Tender documents, bills of quantities, contractor selection and like-for-like tender analysis.
Monthly valuations, change control and cost reporting through the build.
Accounts kept current so agreement at completion is a formality, not a negotiation.
Residential developers and housebuilders delivering schemes from a handful of plots to several hundred; main contractors and subcontractors who need commercial support on live jobs; and private clients building or extending a single house who want someone on their side of the table.
Construction values from £300,000 to £10 million: new-build housing and apartments, one-off private houses, mixed-use schemes, padel and sports facilities, education and light commercial work. Most of our recent work is residential in Berkshire, Hampshire and Oxfordshire.
Valuations and variations are settled on site, not by email. Being based in Newbury means Reading, Basingstoke, Oxford, Winchester and Swindon are all within an hour, so we attend progress meetings, walk the site with the contractor and resolve issues while they are still small. Estimating and bills of quantities are prepared from drawings, so that part of the service is available nationwide.
Fees depend on the scope of the appointment and the size and stage of the project. We agree a fixed fee or a clear fee basis before starting, and a well-run appointment normally saves considerably more than it costs.
Not always, but on a self-build or major extension a QS gives you an independent budget, a proper tender comparison and someone checking the builder’s valuations. Most disputes on domestic projects come down to money and paperwork, which is exactly what a QS controls.
Yes. We often pick up projects at tender or mid-construction. The first job is to establish where the cost actually sits against budget and to get change control working from that point forward.
Yes. We work alongside the existing design team and report to the client. On many schemes we are also appointed as contract administrator or project manager, so the team has one point of contact for cost and delivery.
Berkshire, Hampshire, Oxfordshire, Wiltshire and Surrey for site-based work, including Newbury, Reading, Basingstoke, Oxford, Winchester, Swindon, Andover, Bracknell, Guildford and Salisbury. Estimating from drawings is available anywhere in the UK.
